Violin, Viola and Viola d’amore
Born from a family of musicians, Gabriel Grosbard begin studying violin at the age of five. Ten years later, his special taste for ancient music make him study exclusively baroque violin. He obtain a DEM of ancient music at ENMD Niort with Jean Maillet, and a DFS with highest honours at CNSMDP Paris in François Fernandez class.
Either with violin, viola or viola d’amore, Gabriel is an appreciated partner, more particularely in chamber music projects. He’s regularly invited within most famous formations: Pygmalion (dir : R. Pichon), Ricercar Consort (dir : P. Pierlot), Il Gardellino (dir : Jan de Winne & M. Ponseele), les Talens Lyriques (dir : C. Rousset), les Arts Florissants (dir : W. Christie), les Musiciens du Paradis (dir : A. Buet), les Ombres (dir : M. Blanchard & S. Sartre), Correspondances (dir : S. Daucé), Les Muffatti. Also, he often performs as concert master, function he got with Ensemble Pygmalion for four years. Gabriel appeared a lot of time in soloist especially with Mensa Sonora ensemble (J. Maillet) in different programs, the most recent are: the viola d’amore concerti, the violin concerti dedicated to Pisendel and the four seasons from A. Vivaldi, and the violin concerti from G. Gentili.
Since 2015, he’s musical director of Mensa Sonora ensemble alongside Matthieu Boutineau, taking care of the ensemble and his festival Lumières du Baroque.
He teaches baroque violin since 2015 at the “Académie de musique de Saint-Loup” (79)
His different collaborations allowed him to play in a lot of recordings, particularly with Alpha and Harmonia Mundi (Pygmalion), Mirare (Ricercar Consort) or Arion-Pierre Vérany (Mensa Sonora).
